This past week, I had the opportunity to spend some time at the beach. As you might suspect from this summer gal, the beach is my happy place. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
As I walked along the shore, I began to notice little things. Perfectly shaped shells, rocks in the form of a heart, even a piece of driftwood I’d been searching for to complement one I already have.
It occurred to me – this is all God showing His love for me. All these good things were from God. How do I know this? Because His Word says so:
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:17 NKJV)
What would happen if we simply acknowledged all of the good things throughout the day and send up a prayer of thanks to our Father in heaven?
Many people say they cannot hear from God or don’t sense His presence. Some may even think that God doesn’t love them. Yet, as you can see, he was “screaming” at me all week with the many blessings He showered on me.
I could’ve chosen to chalk them to ‘coincidence’ or ‘luck’ but that would’ve been wrong. All good things come from God. That perfect parking spot. That raise. That unexpected check in the mail.
All. God.
There’s a famous phrase that says – “If you complain, you remain.” Complaining about our lives is the worst thing we can do. Gratitude will get you everywhere with God. He’s given us all so much. The very breath in our lungs comes from Him.
This weekend as we honor the men and women who fought for our precious freedom, let us also honor God for all He has done for us. Instead of pointing out and talking about the bad stuff, let’s focus on the good.
Turn off the news. Turn off social media. Look around. Walk outside and see the glorious creation God made for us. Call friends and thank God for their love and support. Buy a cup of coffee for a colleague you appreciate.
“… in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)
In everything…Every. Single. Thing. Give thanks.
Today, I am grateful for you – and your continued support of Elevate The Day. I pray God’s rich blessings and favor on you in all areas of your life that you would come to know His immense and unconditional love for you.
Don’t miss God’s blessings on you today. Look around. He’s everywhere!
