This week, I lost a very important document that I’d been working on for days. It was finally ready “for its closeup.” That is, it was ready to be printed and bound at my local Staples. However, when I went to transfer it to my USB drive, I accidentally overwrote it with another file.
Those initial moments were not a pretty sight my friend. Hours and hours of work down the drain in a nanosecond.
What did I do?
First, I prayed and asked God to bring back to my memory all of the information that was in the document. The Bible says that “I have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16) and that “Nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37) so I stood on those Scriptures.
Next, I cleared my calendar so that I could focus on this important project. I also had a few friends praying for me.
This was the winning combination and my work is nearly done. It just needs to be printed and bound. However, this time, I think I’ll print it at home and use my own stapler!
Here’s the takeaway.
Life is always going to throw a wrench at you. Sometimes it’s a small inconvenience and other times, not so much. Our attitude and actions play a major role in how it all turns out.
We can cry in our coffee and head to the pity party or…we can face our giants with confidence knowing that God will help us through every single time (Deuteronomy 31:6). All we need to do is ask for help, declare and have faith in His promises, and trust that God is faithful.
I’m grateful to God for helping me to remember my work. I’m grateful to my friends who stood by me. We are all going to face trials and tribulations. Jesus said so Himself in John 16:33.
“In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
But look what He says in the second part of the verse…
“Hakuna Matata!” Ok, He doesn’t exactly say that but look what He does say. “Be of good cheer. I’ve overcome the world.” He’s got this. He’s got us.
When we do life with Jesus, we can rest in this promise and so much more. We don’t have to sweat lost files. We can be of good cheer and know that all is not lost.
